Strawberry Farming Becomes Local Industry in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, 1934

Who's ready for Strawberry Season?

Fun Fact: Ponchatoula was established in 1820 as a cypress logging camp, and at the turn of the 20th century changed its main export from lumber to commercial farming.

Soon to be known as the "Strawberry Capital of The World," these images show how this local berry gave life to a small town industry in the 1930s.
